Best. Day. Ever.
Updated: Nov 10, 2019
A few weeks ago, I picked up the Echo Park Paper 'Wedding Day' collection from Hey Little Magpie as there was 20% off on all EPP products. I bought the collection with the intention of using it to scrap my own wedding photos, however did I really want to wait 10 months to get stuck into the kit? I definitely did not! I therefore set out to create a wedding layout using some of the embellishments, while still saving all the bits I'm likely to want to use for documenting my own trip down the aisle.
I found this beautiful 'Cherry Blossom' paper with a gold marbling effect from an older Prima Marketing collection in my stash, and I thought it would just go perfectly with the colours in Wedding Day and the delicate, feminine vibe I wanted for this layout. I wanted to echo the butterflies in the background with some more statement butterflies 'flying' up the layout, so I die cut these in white with a black under layer, and added a sequin to each for some extra sparkle. I stuck the top layer down with glue dots, so the wings were slightly raised off the layout.
I backed the photo with the same black paper from the butterflies, however I wanted to elevate this a little further off the layout, so I added behind some white tissue paper, that my Hey Little Magpie order came wrapped in! I think this gave the illusion of floaty wedding dress material, to add a bit of interest and tie the photo to the layout. The photo was adhered to the page using foam tape.
Next, it was time to embellish away! By this point I hadn't actually used much from Wedding Day, so I chose some of the chipboard pieces with more general phrases on, as a lot of them make reference to 'Our' wedding - and this one obviously wasn't mine! I went with 'beautiful bride' and 'best. day. ever' as well as some gorgeous floral stickers from the collection. Lastly, I added some black Nuvo drops to bring slightly more black into the layout, and some more sequins as if they had been scattered across the page; I absolutely love the pearlescent effect of these.
And then my layout was done! It was quite a simple one but I love the glamourous feel of the baby pink and gold combination.
About the photo:
This is from the wedding of one of my friends back in August; all 5 of us have known each other since middle school and are still close friends. It was an absolutely magical day and she made the most beautiful bride! I still get all teary-eyed thinking about it.
