3 Cards with 'Free Spirit' by First Edition

After a lengthy vacation from card-making, World Card Making day last week has given me the bug. I set out to make a feel-good card for someone who needs a bit of positivity in their life at the moment, and once I got started I couldn't resist making a couple more. When it comes to positive sentiments, the First Edition 'Free Spirit' pad is a clear winner, with a gorgeous cut apart sheet of uplifting phrases and icons, and mellow teals and purples throughout the papers.

I ended up making 3 5x5" cards using the paper pad and a few embellishments:

I wanted to make a card using the gorgeous feather paper, and immediately thought of a dreamcatcher design. I started with the B-side feather design, which has a more subtle pattern, as my card base. Using a couple of nesting circle dies, I created the hoop from purple cardstock, and wove black embroidery thread around it to create the centre of the dreamcatcher. I then die-cut another hoop and glued this on top to add more dimension, and decorated with sequins. I added the 'good vibes' sentiment topper raised on adhesive foam. I then fussy-cut some out some of the bold feathers and arranged these to look like they were dangling from the catcher.

For the second card, I chose this 'Shine Bright sentiment from the cut apart sheet as my centrepiece. I used this lovely pearlescent paisley pattern as my background, matting this with some purple cardstock before adhering to the card blank.

I wanted to continue the theme, so fussy cut some more crystals from the pad which I arranged along the bottom of the card. I thought some more 'shine' was needed, so used gilding flakes to add a bit of extra glitz and sparkle to the card. The photos really don't do the shimmery-ness justice!

For the last card, I really wanted to include one of these gorgeous elephants I had fussy-cut from the pad. With his upturned trunk and little 'smile' he looks like he's trumpeting with joy, so I thought it would be super cute if he was spraying 'confetti' into the air in celebration. I adhered him to the card base with some foam pads and then used a variety of sequins, as well as some Nuvo drops, in purple and aqua colours to create the confetti effect radiating from his trunk.

I stamped a simple 'With Love' sentiment in the corner of the card, and with that it was finished!
